A unifying framework for flexible excess hazard modelling with applications in cancer epidemiology

چکیده
Excess hazard modelling is one of the main tools in population-based cancer survival research. Indeed, this setting allows for direct due to even absence reliable information on cause death, which common epidemiology studies. We propose a unifying link-based additive framework excess that inclusion many types covariate effects, including spatial and time-dependent using any type smoother, such as thin plate, cubic splines, tensor products Markov random fields. In addition, accounts all censoring well left truncation. Estimation conducted by an efficient stable penalized likelihood-based algorithm whose empirical performance evaluated through extensive simulation Some theoretical asymptotic results are discussed. Two case studies presented data from patients diagnosed with breast (female), colon lung cancers England. The support presence non-linear effects variation. proposed approach available R package GJRM.

For succesful information systems development, conceptual data modelling is essential. Nowadays many techniques for conceptual data modelling exist, examples are NIAM, FORM, PSM, many (E)ER variants, IFO, and FDM. In-depth comparisons of concepts of these techniques is very diicult as the mathematical formalisations of these techniques, if existing at all, are very diierent. As such there is a ...

15 صفحه اولE2 - A Flexible Framework for Catchment Modelling
Catchment management requires modelling for compliance, investigation, understanding, knowledge capture, and informing decisions. The nature of the problems is variable, ranging across scales both temporally and spatially, including discrete events, long term averages, daily and seasonal dynamics, point and spatial estimates and total catchment outputs. These requirements have spawned a variety...

متن کاملBeyond Hazard Rates: a New Framework for Credit-Risk Modelling
A new approach to credit risk modelling is introduced that avoids the use of inaccessible stopping times. Default events are associated directly with the failure of obligors to make contractually agreed payments. Noisy information about impending cash flows is available to market participants. In this framework the market filtration is modelled explicitly, and is assumed to be generated by one ...
